They Rode the Flying Saucers
In 1950s Cold War America, unprecedented prosperity was undercut by the constant threat of atomic annihilation. At the same time, UFO sightings surged, and a small but passionate group calling themselves “Contactees” stepped forward with extraordinary claims: they had met benevolent visitors from other worlds who urged humanity toward peace, unity, and an end to nuclear weapons. Their message briefly captivated the public imagination, yet their movement has all but vanished from mainstream memory. Who were these Contactees? What did they believe they were fighting for? And how did their strange, hopeful vision influence American culture? This film uncovers the forgotten story of the Contactees.
